Minnesota makes it's first trip to Kansas City this weekend in what used to be a sure sweep. But this year looks to be much different, as the Royals swept Detroit in the first series of the year and just took two of three against the Yankees.
This is already the second series between these teams, Minnesota taking two of three in the first meeting at the Metrodome.
Kansas City is home to a out in Centhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifer Field. It's been called the World's largest HD scoreboard and it looks pretty awesome.
Fri 8:10 Meche (0-1) vs Hernández (2-0)
Sat 7:10 Tomko (1-0) vs Bonser (0-2)
Sun 2:10 Bannister (2-0) vs Blackburn (0-1)

Guile. Grit. Deception. Livan Hernandez. Another gem from him last night. But I'm hesitant to give too much credence to his first three starts as they are eerily similar to Rámon Ortiz's first 3 last year:

(If I could actually use the PRE tag, that would be nice, but blogger sucks).
Ortiz's fly ball habits definitely caught up to him, whereas Hernandez has kept the ball on the ground. If LH continues keeping hitters off-balance, he's going to maintain success. But, he's still only faced two different teams.
The other giant source of positivity right now is, of course, Matt Tolbert. What are we going to nickname this guy? No doubt Batgirl would have catchy name for him. I've heard "sparky" already.
Tolbert is getting on base at a ridiculous .619 in 18 ABs. Obviously a small sample size, but encouraging given Adam Everett's ineptitude. Also encouraging is Gardy's enthusiasm for Tolbert in the press and in getting him in games.
Now if Delmon Young and Make Lamb could just get on track.
Last, I'm psyched to see Franchise make his 08 debut on Sunday (at least I usually get the Sunday games on WFTC).
Yeah, Young needs to find his groove, though it was nice to see this on Friday, which started our big 5-run inning.
Top 2nd: Minnesota
- D. Young walked
- J. Kubel struck out swinging
- D. Young stole second
- D. Young to third on wild pitch
- B. Harris walked
- M. Lamb struck out swinging
- D. Span singled to left, D. Young scored, B. Harris to second
- C. Gomez doubled to deep left, B. Harris and D. Span scored
- M. Tolbert singled to center, C. Gomez scored
- J. Mauer grounded out to pitcher
